RUNX1 gene expression in Egyptian acute myeloid leukemia patients: may it have therapeutic implications?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Background Acute myeloid leukemia represents the highest percentage of all adult acute variants. Runt-related transcription factor1 ( RUNX1 ), a factor with known tumor suppressor function, was recently reported as promoter in (AML). We investigated role gene expression level Egyptian AML patients and delineated its clinical significance. Results measured using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction found that significantly higher than control group (p < 0.001). Patients FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 internal tandem duplication FLT3 -ITD) mutations had = 0.023). The male expressed 0.046). Conclusions is highly patients. It has relation to FLT3-ITD, which may give clue carrying this mutation benefit from new treatments target future. Further studies on larger number different ethnic groups clearer vision therapeutic implications molecular target.

Evaluation of the CD123 Expression and FLT3 Gene Mutations in Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Background and Objective: Identification of cytogenetic and molecular changes plays an important role in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. Thus, they are used in classification, prognosis and treatment of the disease. The CD123 expression and FLT3 gene mutations are also the variations that may assist in prognosis and treatment of patients with AML.Methods:</...

Expression of ROR1 Gene in Patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) results from genetic alterations in a single lymphoid progenitor cell. Expression of ROR1 is reported to be increased in ALL and mantle cell lymphoma. In this study the expression of ROR1 was assessed in newly diagnosed patients with ALL. Methods: This study was carried out on 40 patients with newly diagnosed ALL and healthy individuals as contro...

Unique RUNX1 Gene Rearrangements in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Identified (AML)¬¬¬¬

Case 1: A 9 year old male was referred for fever, fatigue, and pancytopenia. Bone marrow analysis revealed hypercellularity with a mixture of myeloblasts and immature monocytes comprising 90% of cells as determined by both morphology and flow cytometry. Molecular analysis for mutations in FLT3, NMP1 and C-KIT were negative, and FISH revealed rearrangement of RUNX1 locus into the chromosome 7p22...

Analysis of BAALC gene Expression as prognosis factor in Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Iran

Background:Brain and Acute Leukemia Cytoplasmic (BAALC) is a gene which its expression is confined to progenitor cells; therefore, no expression has been illustrated in mature cells of bone marrow or white blood cells (WBC). In addition, high BAALC expression is associated with poor prognosis in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) individuals and is considered as an important risk factor in Cyto...

Evaluation of BAALC gene expression in normal cytogenetic acute myeloid leukemia patients in north-east of Iran

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is known as one of the most common leukemia among adults. Environmental and different genetic factors affect disease process, prognosis and treatment. Among different genetic factors NPM1, FLT3, MLL and BAALC genes are the most effective on patient's survival rate. The aim of this study was to assess amount of BAALC gene expression in AML patients, and i...
